I think this generator might need some tweaks before its final form. I’ll probably include it as a bonus appendix to the “Gothic Icons” book.

(The titles might give away that it’s not a real model – even Gothic writers weren’t so formulaic as to repeat a word in the title – instead it’s a thinly disguised manifesto in support of slavery).

Actually, I think I could make a generator for those late 60s “women’s Gothics” (the kind whose covers tended to feature a woman fleeing from an old house).

And what do you think about the generator of names for “Women’s Gothic” (such as the novels of Victoria Holt)? Or there too not so formulaic names?

Thank you! I think the creating tables for Victorian or 20th century novels would be challenging, because the titles were less formulaic than those of early Gothic novels. However, such a generator (for trashy paperback horror novels of the 1960s to 1970s) would definitely make a great addition to “GROOVY Ghastly Affair”!

Irrelevance question – are you going to make such a table for Gothic stories written in the Victorian era or in the XX century?
